Raymond C. Hoffman

Raymond C. Hoffman, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012.
Born in Branchburg, NJ, on November 19, 1923, Mr. Hoffman was the son of the late Clarence Hoffman and Stella Johnson Hoffman. He proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, participating in many missions in the Japan Air Offensive and in the China Burma India Theater.
Mr. Hoffman loved to fly and was a gifted and able pilot for 40 years. He made his civilian career as a pilot and was employed for many years as a chief pilot for various charter companies in the tri-state area. As a highly-regarded and trusted charter pilot, he was the captain of choice for many dignitaries and celebrities. He also assisted in safe airport operations as an assistant air traffic controller.
Mr. Hoffman was a devout Christian throughout his life and a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in various positions, including the Family History Center and the library.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pauline N. Ellicks Hoffman; daughters, Elaine Milner of Newark, DE, and Mary Haugh (James) of Parkesburg, PA; four grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 500 W. Chestnut Hill Road, Newark, DE, 19713, where visitation will begin at 9 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
