Robert J. “Bob” Sechrist, Sr.

February 15, 1928 - February 16, 2018

Robert J. Bob Sechrist, Sr., age 90, of Williamsport, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018.

Born in Williamsport, PA on February 15, 1928, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Margaret (Murphy) Sechrist.  Bob served in the US Navy during WWII.  Afterwards, he dedicated his career as a maintenance worker for Williamsport Hospital in PA.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman.  He had a passionate love for his family and will be remembered as a beloved father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sons, Ronald W. Sechrist and John R. Sechrist, Sr.  He is survived by his children, Robert J. Sechrist, Jr. (Nenita) of Monterey, CA, Steven T. Sechrist (Patricia) of New Castle, and Mary Ann Swain (Donald) of Middletown; sisters, Rita Sechrist of Williamsport, PA and Tess Slavin of Salisbury, MD; grandchildren, Erica Tarr (Robert), Danielle Goodman (Joseph), Nicole McKee (Steven) and John R. Sechrist, Jr. (Kimberly); and great-grandchildren, Makayla, Joseph, Cooper, Isabella, Sophia, Olivia, Audrey and Jack.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of the Wilmington VA Medical Center and Compassionate Care Hospice for the outstanding care Bob received during his illness.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.  A commmittal service will be at 11 am on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in the chapel at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 701 N Clayton St. Wilmington, DE 19805.
