Robert O. Hochstedler

Mr. Robert O. Hochstedler, age 89, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at his home.

A native Delawarean, Mr. Hochstedler was born in Greenwood on August 5, 1923, son of the late William A. Hochstedler and Elizabeth Miller Hochstedler. He proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. A talented master carpenter, he was employed with the former Nanticoke Homes in Greenwood until his retirement in 1988.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 65 years, Eleanor Melott Hochstedler; daughter, Brenda Diane Hetherton (William J.) of Newark; sister, Naoma E. Henry of Greenwood; granddaughter, Rebecca Balon (Matthew) of Middletown; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, B.J. Hetherton.

Services will be held privately.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Donald Hayes, Dr. Gaetano Pastore, James Horstmyer, and the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for the excellent care given to Mr. Hochstedler during his illness.
