Robert R. Rossi

Lifetime educator passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Bob was born in Wilmington, DE on December 14, 1949 to the late Elmer and Mary T. Rossi. He attended St. Matthew School and Saint Edmond’s Academy in Delaware. He then attended and graduated with honors from Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, VA in 1967. Bob served in the US Army as a Captain until 1986 and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/Speech from the University of Delaware in 1971. He later earned his Master of Education from Widener University in 1988. As President of the SMA Foundation, Inc., Bob founded the SMA Summer Program for cadets. He later served as President of Oak Ridge Military Academy in Oak Ridge, NC from 1990-1994 and continued on to serve as President of Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, VA. After successfully regenerating these military schools into thriving institutions of education, Bob came to the Chesapeake Bay Region of Maryland and continued his career as a Realtor and educator. He was a member of the Cecil County Board of Realtors and Chief Examiner for the MD GED Program. Bob was also an Instructor for the MD DLLR for Continuing Education of Realtors.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, his one and only true love, Janet A. Rossi. He is survived by his brothers, John, Albert and Renard Rossi all of Florida and his sister, Loretta Frisoli of Delaware. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as step-children and grandchildren.
Bob was an accomplished musician entertaining family and friends and fellow church members with his talents of singing while playing the accordion or piano. He was also a prize winning writer as well as a master story teller.
A memorial service will be 1 pm on Saturday, January 26 at Life Community Church, 750 Otts Chapel Road, Newark, DE 19713.
