Ronald Edward “Ron” Cheeseman

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Ronald Edward “Ron” Cheeseman, a devoted family man and cherished member of the Middletown, Delaware community. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the age of 82.

Ron was predeceased by his loving parents, Alonzo Edward Cheeseman and B. Jeannette Walrath Cheeseman, as well as his brother, Bruce Cheeseman.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Robin Mitchell Cheeseman, who stood steadfastly by his side through life’s journey. His legacy lives on through his children: Bryan Cheeseman and his wife, Michele; Scott Cheeseman and his wife, Kim; and Ali Lowe and her husband, Allen.

Affectionately known as “Cheezy Pop,” Ron will always hold a special place in the hearts of his eight grandchildren—Kayla Cheeseman (Joe Matthews), Kyle Cheeseman, Cassie Cheeseman, Brad Fecteau, B Cheeseman, Kate Cheeseman, Arianna Lowe, and Audrey Lowe—each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

A devoted animal lover, Ron showered affection on every dog and cat that crossed his path. Over the years, many pets found their way into the Cheeseman household, with Annie and Chance being his most recent loyal companions.

Dedicated to public service, Ronald spent more than 32 years as a Magistrate for the State of Delaware, retiring in 1998 as Deputy Chief Magistrate of New Castle County. Retirement did not slow his drive, as he continued to explore various vocations before settling into property management with K-4 Management, a field he embraced until his full retirement in 2019.

Ronald’s kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He loved connecting with people—whether through lively conversations, hearty laughter, or backyard barbeques. His ability to engage anyone, bring smiles with his humor, and uplift those around him was unmatched. He was a purposeful, loving, and brilliant man who will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 12 pm. Inurnment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 290 Churchmans Road, New Castle, DE 19720 or online by clicking here; or to the charity of your choosing.
