Ronald L. “Pap” Shimko

March 5, 1945 - February 14, 2022

Ronald L. “Pap” Shimko, age 76, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 14, 2022.

Born in Munhall, PA, on March 5, 1945, he was a son of the late John A. and Sarah J. (Wharton) Shimko. After graduating from Munhall High School in 1963, Pap continued his education to become a mechanic. He was a master mechanic for several dealerships over the years where he made lifelong friends.

Pap was an avid football fan and loved to coach. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Always there to cheer them on, Pap was their biggest fan. He touched many lives and always made friends wherever he went. Pap will always be remembered as a beloved husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a dear friend to many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, James Shimko and Sandra Tener. Pap will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Carol Ann (Blasko); children, Christine Dillman (Mark) and Ron J. Shimko (Cris); brother, Jack Shimko (Donna); grandchildren, Alexis, Michael (Brianna), Brandon, Brian, and Eric; and great granddaughters, Emma Grace and Brinley Mae.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 Noon on Monday, February 21 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, February 21, 2022, at 1 pm at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 371 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ronald’s name can be made to the Delaware SPCA, 455 Stanton Christiana Road, Newark, DE 19713.
