Ruth “Bunny” Doyle, age 85, of Bear, DE, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 21, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Ely) Beekler. Bunny made her career with Fidelity Mutual in Philadelphia, PA, as a claims processor, retiring in 2002. She enjoyed visits to the Jersey Shore and cherished time spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, Bunny was preceded in death by her husband, James S. “Blackie” Doyle; daughter, Karen Palmer and brother, Bob Beekler. She is survived by her daughter, Lorie McCarney (Jim) of Bear; grandchildren, Nicole Imondi (Anthony), Megan Palmer, Madison McCarney and Jamie McCarney; and great grandson, James Imondi.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Service and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bunny’s memory to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, PO Box 11039, Lewiston, ME 04243.

  • My condolences is extended out to Lori, Nicole and Megan and the rest of Bunny’s family and loved ones. I have many childhood memories of Bunny but one thing that stands out the most is her love and adoration she had for her grandchildren , always ready to take them under her wing.

    Also, can’t forget the many car rides to the skating rink, or the movie time on her big couch in the basement! Best neighbor ever!

    What a wonderful soul! Rest Easy! I’m sure Blackie was waiting at heavens gate!

  • My heart hurts for you all. We all loved Aunt Bunny very much. I am so glad my daughter and grandkids had the opportunity to finally meet her a few years back. With all our love, thoughts and prayers.

  • MY prayers to the family, growning up on Lee Street we were all family and call her Aunt Bunny. I REMEMBER THE POOL PARTIES, COOK OUTS AND DRIVE In MOVIES. It broke so many hearts when Karen passed for so many reason. The pain your family has been threw saddens me but knowing the Bunny will not be alone in haven and will now be with love ones that have gone before her is comforting, may you find comfort in this as well.
