Ruth Elaine Houser, age 76, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021.

Born in Chester, PA on December 8, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Elwood and Marie (Kestner) Deavitt. Ruth worked as a Customer Service Representative for Citi Bank. She enjoyed making and collecting crafts in her spare time. Ruth loved the beach, especially Cape May, NJ. Above all else, Ruth dotted on her grandchildren and cats.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, David Schott. She is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey Allen Houser; children, Pam Schott, Lisa Boatman, Chris Schott and Jeffrey Houser, Jr.; grandchildren, Shianne Schott, Jordyn Schott and Trace Houser; brother, Ralph Deavitt (Jeanne); and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, 1000 W. Ridge Road, Linwood, PA.  Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the CDC and Governor of Delaware.
