Shanika Alkobadi, retired New York City business owner, affectionately known as “Auntie B” or “Bibi,” age 70, of Newark and formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022.

Born in Diamond, Guyana, on December 30, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Mohadeo and Bhajpattie (Mama) Ramkarran.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mohamed Alkobadi and daughter, Amelia Persaud. Shanika is survived by her children, Randy Persaud, Samerra Zraidi, Abraham Mohamed and Muctar Alkobadi; siblings, Patsy Bhagwandin, Shirley Taylor, Pamela Tulsi, Roy Ramkarran and Romeo Ramkarran; grandchildren, Darren, Justin, Cody, Ali, Jamal and Anjali; and great grandson, Carter.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. A second visitation will be held from 9 am until 11:30 am on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
