Shirley Spatz

Shirley Spatz, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020.

Born on February 8, 1932 in New Castle, DE, she was a daughter of the late Jesse B. and Helen (Hall) Hanna. Shirley was devoted to creating a loving and secure home for her family. She lived in Brandon, Florida for many years, and enjoyed spending time at the beach with her family. Shirley was known for her creativity and meticulous care of her beautiful yard that everyone admired. She was passionate about animals and had many pets, domestic and wild, over the years and her children often joked that she loved her animals more than them.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Randall D. Spatz, Sr.; daughters, Cynthia A. West and Donna L. Spatz; granddaughter, Kylie Renae Vibbert; and sister, Dolores Spence. She is survived by her children, Randall D. Spatz, Jr. (Carol) of Wilmington and Kristi E. Hearn (Lonnie) of Bear; siblings, Betty Sloan of Boca Raton, FL and Carol Deardorff of Lancaster, PA; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

All services will be held privately.

Shirley’s family would like to thank the staff of the Churchman Village Nursing Home for their compassionate care over the years.
