Sophia Bielicki

Died: 4/30/2010

Mrs. Sophia Agnes Cichocki Bielicki, age 92, of New Castle, DE, died on Friday, April 30, 2010, at home surrounded by her beloved family. A native Delawarean, Mrs. Bielicki was born in Wilmington on April 11, 1918, daughter of the late Felix Cichocki and Martha Marshalewski Cichocki. She was employed for over 30 years with the former Brown & Scott Packing Company in Wilmington before her retirement. A talented homemaker as well, she greatly enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting gifts for family and friends. Mrs. Bielicki was a longtime member of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church and was active at the Howard Weston Senior Center and as a volunteer with the Salvation Army. She also looked forward to playing bingo and taking trips to Atlantic City with her many friends. Most of all, she was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great granddaughter, whom she often called her little angels. Her husband, Joseph Bielicki, died in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Matthews (Eugene); brother, Frank Cichocki; sister, Lucy Blyskal; grandchildren, Vivian Dillon (John), Monica Rodkey (Brian), Carrie Ann Kitto (Dave), Gene Matthews, Jr. (Colleen), and Scott Matthews (Summer); great grandchildren, Tara, Danielle (Jimmy), John, Kyle, Scott, Tyler, Sierra, Zach, Shelby, Matthew, Trey, Ethan, and Logan; and great great granddaughter, Alyssa. The family extends their most sincere gratitude to the staffs of Gardens at White Chapel, Home Helpers, and, especially, Compassionate Care Hospice, for their many kindnesses to Mrs. Bielicki during this difficult time. Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Fifth and Harmony Streets, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE 19720; or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702 B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
