Stephen "Steve" Douglas Williams - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Stephen “Steve” Douglas Williams

April 3, 1947 - July 24, 2024

Stephen “Steve” Douglas Williams, age 77, of Newark, Delaware, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware, on April 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Stephen and Evelyn “Ommie” Williams.  Steve was truly proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy on a nuclear ballistic submarine during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Submarine Vets of Delaware, the Holland Club, and the American Legion Post No. 10.  He had a long and accomplished career as a radiation research engineer with Basell (originally Hercules, Inc.).  Steve enjoyed spending time at the beach, capturing memories with his camera, and playing tennis, which is how he met his wife, Holly.  He had wonderful memories of growing up on a farm and spending time in the “old cottage” at Fenwick Island, Delaware.  He found great joy spending time with the many dogs who were part of his life.  Most of all, he loved his family and was proud to be a sports dad and granddad.  He will be lovingly remembered for his amazing storytelling and great sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Phyllis Daly. He is survived by his loving wife, Holly Williams; cherished daughters, Anecia Nesfeder (George), Mandy Nardo (Nick), Lizzie Williams-Drueding (Ross); grandchildren, Allyson (Nick), Kimberly, Tyler (Grace), Trip, Liam, and Logan; great-grandchildren, Lizzy, Finley, and Avery; brother-in-law, Alex Daly; nieces, Kim Daly (Suzanne) and Denée Daly Wills (Glen); and great-nephew, Zan.

Steve’s family sends many thanks to the incredibly caring doctors, nurses, techs, and teams at Christiana Hospital. Their dedication to exemplary care at the highest level while always being so kind is truly appreciated.

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, a one-hour visitation for family and friends will start at 1 p.m.  At 2 p.m. a funeral service will begin at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, Delaware.  Interment will be held privately.

Donations may be made in Steve’s name to the United States Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 1063, Groton, CT 06340 or online by clicking here.
