Mr. Steven Bobik, age 78, of Bear, DE, died on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at his home.
Born in Binghamton, NY, on December 29, 1932, Mr. Bobik was the son of the late George Bobik, Sr. and Mary Knapp Bobik. He made his career with the DuPont Company, where he worked for 35 years before retiring as a research supervisor.
Active in his community, Mr. Bobik proudly served his country in the National Guard for 13 years. He was a devout Catholic throughout his life and a longtime member of Holy Family parish in Newark, DE. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing and delighted especially in singing with the Delaware Saengerbund choir.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Mackowiak Bobik; children, Andrew Bobik (Barbara), Stephanie Bobik, and Barbara Fones (H. Alan) all of Bear, DE; sister, Elizabeth Bobik of Binghamton, NY; grandchildren, Brent Bobik, Kyle Fones, Ryan Bobik, Brittany Bobik, Victoria Bobik, and Veronica Fones; great granddaughter, Annabelle Fones; best friends, his sister-in-law, Violet App along with Rita and William Nefosky; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bobik and Dot Bobik; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, George, Andrew, and Rudy Bobik, Mary Hattala and Ann Kubik.
The family would like to thank Delaware Hospice and his caregiver, Ashton Mairura, for their many kindnesses during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held from 7 pm to 9 pm on Friday, February 25th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Saturday, February 26th, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
