Susan Traurig
September 18, 1961 - August 2, 2024
Susan Traurig, age 62, of Newark, DE, passed away following a lifelong illness on Friday, August 2, 2024.
Born in Elkton, MD, on September 18, 1961, she was a daughter of Carol (Toy) and the late Joseph A. Traurig. Susan graduated from Newark High School in 1979.
A devout Catholic, Susan was a member of Holy Family Parish, reciting the rosary daily. Outside of her faith, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, swimming and babysitting.
In addition to her father, Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Lisa Edwards; nephew, Owen Pierce; niece, Stephanie Edwards; and brother-in-law, Steve LeJeune. She is survived by her mother, Carol Traurig; sisters, Ann Marie Hobbs (Jim), Cathy LeJeune, Linda Musser (Ken) and Joanna Pierce (Mike); lifelong friend, Eila Matt; nephews and caretakers, Daniel Hobbs and Travis Lucas, who brought much joy and laughter to Susan during her final months; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
