          Suzanne R. Balback, age 79, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.

          Born in Wilmington, DE on July 13, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Thomas and Zenobia Lavenia (Kenton) Rodney.  Suzanne earned her degree as a registered nurse in 1963 from the Delaware Hospital.  She started her career working for an Obstetrician, then after raising her family she spent many years with Astra Zeneca as a drug safety coordinator. Suzanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a devout Christian, family and faith were the most important things in her life.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David James Balback; and brother, Marvin T. Rodney.  Suzanne is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard L. Balback; sons, Richard Balback, Jr. of Wilmington and James David Balback (Georgette) of New London, PA; granddaughters, Kelsi Nicole Snow (John Wayne Snow Jr.), Madison Taylor Balback and Hayden James Balback; and great grandson, Greyson Wayne Snow.

          A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, August 26, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

          In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Suzanne’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

  • I was shocked to see Suzanne in the obituary list today. We still seem young and vital. Suzanne was so kind and generous with her time. .   • To Dick and the family: I’m very sorry for your loss. Suzanne was a P.S. classmate and a good friend. I did not know of Suzanne’s passing until Wednesday, (Feb 19) while attending a luncheon. She will be sorely missed.
