Mr. Thomas H. Sparks, Sr., age 71, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013, at his home.
Born in Salem, NJ, on November 26, 1941, Mr. Sparks was the son of the late Herbert G. Sparks and Agnes Izydorczyk Sparks. He proudly made his career with the Chrysler Corporation, where he retired as a quality engineer after over 41 years of service. For 20 years, he also owned and operated his own successful commercial cleaning company.
A devout Catholic from childhood, Mr. Sparks was a longtime member of Holy Family parish. He was devoted to animals throughout his life and enjoyed caring for his pet cockatiels and feeding the deer around his home. He also sold handcrafted gifts at local Irish festivals for many years. He especially enjoyed meeting his many good friends from Chrysler for lunch.
Most of all, Mr. Sparks will be remembered as a devoted family man whose happiest times were spent in the company of his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eugenia B. Sitko Sparks; sons, Thomas H. Sparks, Jr. (Patricia) of Milford, Henry Gerald Sparks (Heather) of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, and Herbert G. Sparks II of Wilmington; brother, William H. Sparks (Sharon) of Pennsville, NJ; and granddaughters, Mallory Sparks and Emilia Sparks.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Old Bohemia Cemetery, Warwick, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Benedictine School, 14299 Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660; or to Tri-State Bird Rescue, 110 Old Possum Hollow Road, Newark, DE 19711.
