Valerie A. “Val” Baaden

Valerie A. “Val” Baaden, age 46, of Christiana, DE, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE on April 11, 1976, she was a daughter of William L. Moneta, Sr. and Carol (Bock) Mickewich, of Hendersonville, NC. Val worked in quality control at Lockheed Martin Co.

Passionate about music, Val enjoyed singing and often attended karaoke. She also attended the gym and loved going to classes like Zumba and body combat. Val loved the outdoors and nature, visiting the beach and collecting sand castles. In her spare time, she liked to work with her hands and create beautiful crafts, especially jewelry. Val filled her home with beautiful plants, including a lush garden with a ton of vegetables. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and beloved pets.

In addition to her parents, Val is survived by her daughters, Ashleigh M. Baaden, Tina E. Baaden, and Helena G. Baaden, all of Bear; siblings, Billy Moneta of Hockessin and Reneé Moneta of Cape Coral, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

All services will be held privately.

Kids were free to roam the neighborhood safely then. She became like another daughter within my family. She was loved and cared for and loved our dog “Hot Dog”, a dachshund. Our memories will sustain us during our grief and after also.

  • Val fit right in the team at Lockheed Martin and was a pleasure to work with. I only knew her for a short time, but that time was filled with laughs and good times. She will be missed.
