Wayne Anthony Wilson

September 30, 1953 - March 16, 2019

Wayne Anthony Wilson, age 65, of New Castle, DE passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 30, 1953, he was the son of the late Sarah A. “Boots” and Jerry R. “Wilson” Wilson.  At the young age of 14, Wayne began his career in his father’s business, Wilson’s Pest Control.  Upon his father’s passing he took over the family business.  Wayne took great pride in his job, insuring all homes were free of pests and rodents.

A jokester at heart, Wayne always enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews.  He liked growing a mixture of hot peppers in his garden and betting others he could out eat the hottest of them.  Wayne had a love for all animals, especially his dog, Rockey, and his snakes and iguanas.

He is survived by his sister, Deborah Wilson Taylor; nieces and nephews, Thomas Reed, Jr., Debi Cheeseman, Raymond Reed and Nancy “Nan” Dowdy; and great nephews, Austin Reed and Dylan Reed.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 7 pm.  Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Wayne’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
