Wayne C. Whalen, Jr.

June 7, 1977 - March 3, 2023

Wayne C. Whalen, Jr. age 45, of Millsboro, DE, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE on June 7, 1977, he was a son of Cecilia M. (Ferris) and Wayne C. Whalen, Sr.

Wayne was previously employed by Mountaire, DelDOT, and Laidlaw Corp., but most recently worked as an operator at SPI Pharma, Inc. He was a member of Long Neck United Methodist Church.  Wayne was very proud of his previous service as a volunteer firefighter at Holloway Terrace Fire Company, Station 20 for many years.

He was happiest spending time with his family and friends, whether it was crabbing, playing horseshoes and cornhole, relaxing at Paradise Grill, or cheering on the Eagles and Phillies. Wayne also enjoyed cooking and was known as the family grill master.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Michelle Whalen (Katie) of Wilmington, DE, Timothy Whalen of Millsboro, DE, and Toni Wright (Chris) of Akron, OH; children, Theresa Whalen, Alexis Whalen, Kyle Marsh, Lauren Montgomery, and Madison Whalen; fiancée, Tammy Orta; grandchildren, Zayden and Prudence; and 6 nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
