William Arthur Davison, Sr.

Mr. William Arthur Davison, Sr., age 85, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011.
Born in South Park, PA, on March 18, 1926, Mr. Davison was the son of the late James Davison and Anna Rose Davison. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during both World War II and the Korean War aboard the USS Wichita and the USS LST529. He was honorably discharged from military service in 1951 as a Gunner’s Mate Third Class.
In civilian life, Mr. Davison made his career as a journeyman/mechanic in local industry, including the DuPont Chambers Works site, Amoco Chemical, Thiokol Chemical, and Johnson Controls. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed woodworking, boating, and traveling throughout the United States.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Peggy Louise Schmidt Davison, and a son, Steven J. Davison. He is survived by sons, William A. Davison, Jr. (Linda) of Newark, DE and Daniel L. Davison of Rehoboth, DE; grandsons, Steven Davison of Suffolk, VA, Brian J. Davison (Jaime) of Santa Clarita, CA, and Kevin W. Davison of Eugene, OR; great grandchildren, Emma Davison and Evan Davison; and sister, Sarah Mendler of Lewistown, PA.
Interment will be held privately in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
