William Bennett “Bill” Fulmer III - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

William Bennett “Bill” Fulmer III

June 28, 1966 - August 6, 2024

William Bennett “Bill” Fulmer III, age 58, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Wilmington, DE on June 28, 1966, he was the son of the late William Bennett and Carole (Bea) Fulmer, Jr.  During most of his youth, he lived in the Newark Pike Creek area.  Bill was a graduate of Christiana High School and went on to attend the University of Delaware. He dedicated over 30 years of employment with Solvay/Syensqo.

Through high school and college, Bill played the trumpet, and also performed at some Alumni games. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his truck as well as going to the firing range. Bill also loved cheering on his beloved Philadelphia sports teams, and watching NASCAR until his favorite driver retired. He especially loved spending time with his family. Bill was always supportive of his children’s school sports while they were growing up. Whether it was Taylor’s softball, color guard, or Ryan’s baseball, Bill was always there to cheer and support them and their team. He was a very selfless person and would do anything for anybody, often putting others needs before his own.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sheri (George) Fulmer; children, Taylor Axelsson (Kristian) and Ryan Fulmer (Brook); and mother-and-father-in-law, Mac and Pat McCallister.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Middletown Baptist Church, 419 Armstrong Corner Road, Middletown, DE 19709 or online by clicking here.

  • I was heartbroken to learn of Bill’s passing. As a fellow trumpet player in the band, I had the pleasure of knowing him during my freshman year. Bill was incredibly kind and supportive, and his positive spirit was contagious.
I will always cherish the memory of his friendship. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

  • Billy was the youngest of the Fulmer, Mummert and Watts cousins and we all remember how over -the-moon his parents were when he was born. They had tried for years to no avail and then, there he was, heaven sent. Because we Watts cousins lived in Kentucky, we only visited in the summer and were many years Bill’s senior so we weren’t a big part of his childhood, unfortunately. My sister, Susan was married in 1970 when Bill(y) was 4 years old and she asked his parents if he could be the ring bearer and they agreed. He was very well behaved for a 4 year old! The last time I saw him was at his father’s funeral and I invited him to visit us in Kentucky but, sadly, it never happened. I enjoyed meeting Sheri, Taylor and Ryan and send you our deepest sympathy and love. Bill and Steve Watts and Jamie Megginson (Susan’s daughter)

  • Sheri, Taylor and Ryan,

I was saddened to hear the news of Bill’s passing. We met in middle school band as we both played trumpet, though Bill did so with talent beyond me. We lost touch after high school but it was great to reconnect when Taylor and Jess attended school together and were both part of the band there for a time.

I will be out of state and won’t be able to attend the services but please know you all are in my thoughts during this time.
