Wilma B. Ainscow, age 87, of Middletown, DE, and formerly of Ocean View, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on May 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Josephine and William Butler. Wilma graduated from Wilmington High School and was employed by Hercules, where she met her husband, Mort. After starting her family, she was blessed to stay home to raise her children, playing an active role in their various activities. Wilma also was a very loving and supportive figure in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, she cherished the times she spent with family and friends at the beach, traveling, playing board games and other social activities.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her loving husband, E. Morton Ainscow Jr.; son, E. Morton Ainscow III; daughter, Sandra Lee Ainscow; sisters, Betty Lou Petrucci and Catherine Tetlow; and in-laws, Ada and E. Morton Ainscow Sr. She is survived by her children, Gail Danley, Lynn Ainscow (Bill Mooney), Valerie Kokoszka (Rob), and Jill Keener; grandchildren, James Keener (Prescilla), Kyle Kokoszka, Justin Keener, and Brandon Kokoszka-Morgan (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Taylor and Savannah Keener; and sister, Joan Leger.

The family of Wilma would like to extend a special thank you to Katelyn from Compassionate Care Hospice for her exceptional care.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

  • Gail, Lynn, Val and Jill, your mom was one of the good ones on the neighborhood! I am extremely sorry for your loss. I lost my mom 2 weeks ago so I do know how you feel. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! May God give you all strength and comfort to get you thru the hard times!
