Winston Keane-Dawes

Winston Keane-Dawes passed away on April 16, 2022, in New Castle, DE. For 54 years he was the husband of Sonia Keane-Dawes, they married in 1967. Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica to Thomas and Ivy Keane-Dawes, Winston graduated from Kingston College in Kingston, Jamaica and later earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of the West Indies in 1965.

After university, Winston married his childhood sweetheart and started a family. Winston worked in accounting and for most of his career he specialized in financial management in the hospitality industry. This career saw him live throughout the Caribbean including Curacao, Aruba and Barbados, not to mention his home Jamaica.

Throughout his life Winston maintained a passionate interest in cricket, soccer and dominoes winning multiple tournaments while playing the latter. He also developed a love of American football and basketball; many times, sharing that love with his children. He was known as a kind and gentle soul and above all else, a gentleman.

Winston is survived by his wife Sonia and their children, Sean and Kelley; his grandchildren Matthew and Ivy; his siblings Dorothy, Dennis, Ronald, Phillip and Maurice Keane-Dawes

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Immanuel Episcopal Church on the Green, 50 Market Street, New Castle, DE, where a Celebration of Life service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
