Angeline Marie Rees

Angeline Marie Rees, known fondly as “Pug,” age 73, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, after a brave and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. She joins her beloved son, Robert C. Rees, Jr. and husband, Robert C. Rees in eternity.

She leaves behind her loving daughter and best friend, Jean Marie Rees-Staker (William) of Chesapeake City, MD, who lovingly cared for her at their home during her last days. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Brandan R., Amanda G. and Kyle M. Rees, all of Clayton, DE. She is also survived by her dear brothers, Eugene Poppitt (Dora) of Lincoln, DE and Julius Poppitt (Lois) of Leipsic, DE.

A native Delawarean, Pug was born in Wilmington on February 19, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Julius F. Poppitt and Jean B. Baker. As a child, Pug attended Our Lady of Fatima School and then went on to graduate from William Penn High School in 1961, finishing in the top 10 of her class. She shared 51 years of marriage with her husband, Bob and after raising her family, went to work for the Jones Family at Pott’s welding for the next 17 years, where she met her devoted friend, John Jones.

Pug will be remembered for her kindness, grace and compassion towards others. She adored spending as much time as she could with her beloved daughter, Jean and her grandchildren. Pug was a special lady who will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.

A celebration of life will be held 11 am on Monday morning, April 25, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
