B. Eleanor Singer

B. Eleanor Singer, age 84, of New Castle, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.

Born in Newark, Delaware on New Year’s Eve 1929, Mrs. Singer was the daughter of the late Gilbert T. Walker, Sr. and E. Louise Ford. She worked as a librarian for the Colonial School District, first at Wilmington Manor Elementary and later at William Penn High School until her retirement.

Mrs. Singer enjoyed visiting local craft shows, especially the annual Art on the Green in Old New Castle. She was a gifted seamstress and had a large collection of quilts that she treasured. In her leisure time, she loved traveling with her late husband, John. Mrs. Singer was happiest in the company of her beloved family, whom she adored spending time with.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Singer, Sr., who passed away in 2007. She is survived by her son, John R. Singer, Jr. and wife Robin of New Castle; daughter, Debra Singer Bennett of New Castle; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday afternoon, April 7, 2014, at The Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where family and friends may visit from 1 pm until 2 pm. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
