Doris “Betty” Blansfield

Doris “Betty” Blansfield, age 94, of Port Penn, DE, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018.

Born in Port Penn, DE, she was the only child of the late James and Alberta (Ellis) Dyer. Betty worked for the United States Postal Service for 34 years and was Postmaster in Port Penn for 22 years. She was a life member of First Presbyterian Church of Port Penn where she became an ordained elder in 1963 and served as Clerk of Session for 15 years. Betty also served on the board of directors for Hickory Grove Cemetery.

She enjoyed talking on the phone with family and friends, eating out, traveling, and watching game shows.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Blansfield. Betty is survived by her children, Doris LeClair (Barry), Jewel Blansfield, and Karen Beavers (Bob); grandchildren, Amy Reville (Bobby), Angela Kuchera (Russ), Tim LeClair (Kirstin), Zach Beavers (Alyssa), and Nathan Beavers (Lissa); and great grandchildren, Adrian, Katarina, and Kaileigh Kuchera, Mason and Madisyn Reville, and Julie and Cameron LeClair.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn, DE.
