Dorothy M. Ferrell, age 75, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 24, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 1, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Lindsay and Naomi (Lynch) Walls. Dorothy graduated from Wilmington High School in 1960 and attended Goldey-Beacom College. During this time she co-opt at the Bank of Delaware as a travel agent. After college she dedicated her career at the Delaware Division as a secretary for Dr. Duncan.

Dorothy loved to travel, especially cruises and going to Vegas. She was the President of the Knights of Columbus Women’s bowling league and coached softball with 2 of her daughters. Dorothy’s hobbies were sewing, knitting, crafting and cooking. Most of all she loved to spend time with her husband, family and especially her grandkids.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Carnell and Joyce Walls; brothers Bobby Walls and Ted Walls; and grandson, Curtis Matthew Clark. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 54 years, Thomas D. Ferrell; daughter, Angie (Ferrell) Clark (Jason Reynolds); grandchildren, Alexander and Nicholas Clark; brother, Edward Walls; Estranged daughters, Danielle (Ferrell) Gayton (Thomas) and their children, Katherine, Elizabeth and Tommy Gayton and Lisa (Ferrell) Wood (Harold) and their children, Julia and Jason Wood.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, July 2, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
