Elva M. Vandever, age 93, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2017.
Elva was born in Wilmington, DE on August 26, 1923, and was the daughter of the late William T. and Elva (Weidman) Marvel.
A woman of strong faith, she was a former member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and a current member of the Abundant Life church. Elva was a devoted friend, always willing to help anyone in need. She adored spending time with her beloved family.
In addition to her parents, Elva was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Edward Vandever; 1 brother; and 2 sisters. She is survived by her sons, Edward A. Vandever (Martha Dorst) and Richard D. Vandever; friend and caregiver, Brenda Tulley; and grandson, Jason E. Vandever.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday morning, August 23, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.
