Mrs. Estelle F. Appleby, age 99, of Newark, DE, formerly of New Castle, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013.
Born in Pennsylvania on March 7, 1914, Mrs. Appleby was the oldest of four children born to the late Charles Foy and Grace Marshall Foy. She made her career in the insurance industry, working for the former Equitable Life Insurance Company (now American General) for 42 years before retiring as a company supervisor.
A gifted musician, she greatly enjoyed playing both piano and organ.
Her beloved husband, Harry V. Appleby, passed away in 2009. She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 1st, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
