Gerald D. Peterson, Sr.
Gerald D. Peterson, Sr., age 73, of Dover, DE, and formerly of Prices Corner, DE, and Littleton, NC, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family, on Monday, August 14, 2017.
Born in Elkton, MD on December 18, 1944, Gerald was the son of the late William and Mary Peterson. A career employee of General Motors, he worked as an assemblyman, retiring after 32 years of dedicated service.
An avid sports fan, Gerald looked forward to cheering on the Carolina Panthers each season, enjoyed following NASCAR, especially #88 – Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and liked watching professional wrestling. He relished spending time outdoors and enjoyed both boating and camping. In his leisure time, Gerald liked tending to his aquariums, building model trains, and working on cars. Above all else, he was a loving and devoted father, brother, and grandfather, who will be very dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Peterson. He is survived by his sons, Gerald Peterson (Marcia Ledden) of Middletown and Paul Peterson (Brandy Smith) of Dover; sister, Norma Garchell; grandchildren, Timothy, Kylianna, and Arden; and extended family members, Joe Vidunas and his children, Michael and Alexis, Susan Davis, and her son, Samuel, and Sandra Kegly, and her daughter, Aryana.
Services and interment will be held privately.
