James William Maichle, Sr.

James William Maichle, Sr., age 80, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 12, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware on June 27, 1934, Jim was a son of the late Elizabeth and Harry Maichle, Sr. He was a dedicated employee with General Motors for more than 25 years, retiring in 1996.
Jim adored being outside, doing yard work and taking regular bike rides through Battery Park to enjoy the scenery. He looked forward to vacationing in Daytona Beach, FL where over the years, he had many memories with family and friends. In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He will be remembered as a wonderful, loving father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Elizabeth (DiPersio) Maichle, a son, James Maichle, Jr, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and a granddaughter. He is survived by his children, Mary Edwards of Bear, Ruth Foster and her companion, Charles Flowers of Newark, Ann Flowers and husband, Garry of Bear and Ralph Maichle and wife, Louise of Bear; brothers, John, Thomas and Richard Maichle; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and companion, Joyce Poiroux of Grandbay, AL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Friday morning, September 19, 2014, at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, 12 Winder Road, Garfield Park, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
