Patricia M. “Pat” Callahan

Born October 23, 1944

Patricia M. Pat Callahan, age 72, of Newark, Delaware passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 23, 1944 in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Russell Miller and the late Florence (Cameron) Miller.

Pat enjoyed teaching physical education at Mount Aviat Academy in Elkton, MD for several years.  Following her teaching career, she devoted her life to caring for her family and enjoyed being a homemaker.   She loved playing the piano and enjoyed sports.  Pat will always be remembered for her role as the first female coach for the Newark Babe Ruth Baseball League.

A woman of strong faith, she was a member of St. Johns-Holy Angels Church.

Pat is survived by her loving husband, Tim D. Callahan; four children, SSG Mary Kathleen Hall, U.S. Army of Newark, Bridget DiLuzio of Middletown, Patrick Hall (Marta) of Wilmington, and Michael Hall of Trinidad, CO; a sister, Michelle Miller of Lancaster, PA and seven grandchildren.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE where a memorial service will be held beginning at 12:00 noon.  Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 2601 W. 4th Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
