Rosemarie A. (Pantuliano) Callahan

November 8, 1932 –¬†April 27, 2015

Rosemarie A. (Pantuliano) Callahan, age 82, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2015.

A native Delawarean, Mrs. Callahan was born in Wilmington on November 8, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Daniel Pantuliano and Mary (Vitalo) Johnson. She made her career as a mail department clerk with Discover Card and retired after many years of dedicated service.

Known for her exceptional culinary skills, Mrs. Callahan delighted in creating delicious meals for her family. In her leisure time, she enjoyed ceramics, trying her luck at the casinos and attending bingo at White Chapel. An avid traveler, Mrs. Callahan spent many happy hours driving cross country with her late husband. She adored spending time with her beloved family and was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Callahan, Sr; sister, Doris Quattro; and brother, Vincent Pantuliano. Mrs. Callahan is survived by her children, Colleen Vavala (Michael) of Smyrna, DE, Jacqueline Wilson (William) of Middletown, DE and John Callahan, Jr. (Ruth) of Newark, DE; brother, Donald Johnson; sister, Peggy Roberts (Robert); 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

A committal service will be held at 2 pm on Monday afternoon, May 11, 2015, at the Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE, where interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brookdale at White Chapel Memory Care Unit, c/o 200 E Village Rd, Newark, DE 19713, Newark, DE 19713.

    I’LL MISS YOU HERE AT THE GARDENS. I’VE ENJOYED KNOWING YOU FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. I KNEW THAT YOU WERE ONE WHO WOULD ALWAYS GET MY ‘ MY STUPID ONE LINER REMARKS OR WEIRD JOKES. I KNOW THAT LIVING YOUR LIFE WITH ALL OF YOUR HEALTH CONCERNS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN EASY, BUT YET YOU DID IT SO GRACEFULLY.

    I SEE THAT YOU ARE BEING BURIED AT THE DEL. VETERANS CEMETERY, WHICH IS WHERE I PLAN TO ” END UP!” WHEN MY TIME IS GONE ALSO. I VISITED THE CEMETERY WITH MY BROTHER A FEW YEARS AGO. IT’S NICE THERE, SO DON’T BE AFRAID. IT’S NICE TO KNOW YOU’LL BE THERE TO LOOK OUT FOR ME WHEN MY TIME COMES. AROUND.

    I WOULD LOVE TO COME DOWN ON THE DART BUS FOR YOUR SERVICE , BUT HEY, WE BOTH KNOW DART ISN’T THAT RELIABLE !!!
