Sharon Ann Burnham, age 77, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, October 9, 2017.

A native Delawarean, Sharon was born in Wilmington on June 24, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Wilkinson) Kane. Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Lawson D. Burnham; children, Kelly Bacon (Joseph) and David Burnham (Kimberly); brothers, Jack Kane (Olive) and Joseph Kane (Catherine); 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 am on Friday morning, October 13, 2017, at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Interment will be held privately in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

    Dear Burnham Family,
My heart and prayers are with you all in your great loss. Sharon was a great friend in our teen years and elder years too. I have to smile when I think of some of the crazy things we did and so glad I have those memories. You will be greatly missed not only by your family, but your friends too

Your mother truly was beloved by all who were blessed enough to just be in her presence. Know that we loved her and all she stood for, beautiful, spiritual, family first and a loving person. We now see her dancing and singing Irish songs together with mom Bacon and all her friends and family waiting for her. May your hearts be healed knowing she is now free of pain and will forever be your star of strength hope, faith and love.

Kelly, Joe, David, Kim, Mr. Burham, Bridget, John, Joey, Dana, Jack, Molly, Haley, Madison and Delaney,

Losing someone you love so much leaves a hole that feels as if it will never heal. My prayers are with you as you help each other and lean on each other as you say goodbye to a woman who has brought so much happiness, love and laughter to all of you. She is truly a special lady to all of the Bacon family and even more so to my mother. The memory of their speical frienship is a gift I will always treasure! God’s blessings on all of you as your hearts heal.

With much love and our deepest sympathies,
    Rick and Trish
