William Chandler Revis, Jr.

William Chandler Revis, Jr., age 86, of Lewes, DE and formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2015.

Born in Wilmington, DE on November 15, 1928, Mr. Revis was a son of the late William Chandler Revis, Sr. and Lillian (Carter) Revis. He made his career as a professional truck driver and worked first for the Doeskin Company, secondly for 22 years with the 7UP Company and finally for the Crowell Corporation, retiring in 1997.

He was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Revis enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing. He loved visiting and attending activities with his favorite resident of the Mary Campbell Center, Michael D. Luternau. He was a loyal patron of the Lemon Tree restaurant in Lewes, where he enjoyed his daily breakfast visit. A devoted fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Mr. Revis looked forward to cheering on his favorite team each season. He was happiest in the company of his beloved family and will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Clara Mae (Rolph) Revis, sisters, Sarah H. Bentley, Elizabeth L. Herbener, Lillian M. Beattie and Frances S. Burris, brother, Samuel M. Revis, a grandson, Michael Revis and his companion, Ruth Ann Brown. Mr. Revis is survived by his children, Cynthia A. Thornton (Gerald) of Louisville, KY, William A. Revis (Mark) of Bear, DE and Gary M. Revis (Karen) of Wilmington, DE; 7 grandchildren, Gerald C., Scott M. and Jason C. Thornton, Gary M. Revis, Jr., Nicholas P. Gonczkowski and Michelle A. Brandli; and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitations will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Sunday evening, February 8, 2015 and again from 10 am until 11 am on Monday morning, February 9, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday morning, February 9th. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Campbell Center, 4641 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
