Brian Matthew Bandy, age 40, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

Born in Havre de Grace, MD on August 28, 1981, he was a son of Gary Randall “Randy” Bandy and Donna Rose (McKeever) Fontanez. Brian attended Elkton High School. He worked in various professions but enjoyed working for the Christina School District the most.

Brian and Michael enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas, and entertaining and cooking for their many friends and family. They loved going to various restaurants. Brian will always be remembered for his humorous personality, gift for making friends, and enjoying life in general, especially the last ten years. He will also always be remembered as a dear friend to many. He was full of life.  Brian loved watching movies in the comfort of his home.

Brian was preceded in death by his husband, Michael Joseph Bandy-Pistory. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Dakota Bandy-Pistory; stepfather, J.R. Fontanez; brother, Anthony Fontanez and Jamie Rasinski; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses.

  • As much as it saddens me to see that you are gone brian I know you are in a better place and that you are happy once again cause you are reunited with your other half, it broke my heart to see how Michael’s death took a toll on you and how much you have missed him the past 1 and a half years…..I am blessed to have called you my brother…I love you man!!!   • So sorry for the loss. Brian is someone I will never forget. He was wild & crazy but in all the best ways. Not to mention he had a heart of gold & would do almost anything for those he cared about. He’ll definitely be missed & never forgotten.

  • I knew Brian from the Delaware Autism Program. He had duties at the residential unit where I worked and in the main building at Brennen School. He always was responsive whenever we needed materials and we knew he was the go-to guy and that we didn’t have to worry after contacting him for the job would get done. Gee, wish the rest of the world worked that way! His humor and wit were also appreciated especially in a profession like ours. RIP Brian, you will be missed.
