Shirley W. Nolan, age 87, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022.

Born in Laurel, DE on May 14, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Monroe Whaley and Evelyn (Vickers) Clymer. Shirley made her career as a sales representative for Briggs Rubber Company for many dedicated years.

Shirley was an avid reader and she enjoyed her time spent volunteering at Post 28 Millsboro Legion. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Nolan; and brothers, Thomas Whaley, David Whaley, and Jack Clymer. She is survived by her loving children, Timothy Nolan (Debby) of Middletown, Deborah Kruzienski (Ed) of Newark, James Nolan (Beth) of Newark, and Michael Nolan (Marie) of Rehoboth; siblings, Ina Morton (Gerry) of Oceanview, Jill McCorkle (Robin) of Wilmington, and Aleen Krewatch of Millsboro; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.           

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held at a later date.

  • So very sorry to read of Shirley’s passing. Our Laurel High Class of 1953 was so very happy she joined us at our 50th year celebration. She will always be a member of our class even though she moved North before graduation. Many wonderful memories of Shirley that will always remain with us forever. The family is in my prayers.
