Rose Marie Shiner
March 24, 1932 - December 4, 2022
Rose Marie Shiner, age 90, of Avondale, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, December 4, 2022.
Born in Bethlehem, PA on March 24,1932, she was a daughter of Hungarian immigrants, the late Charles and Anna Korpics. Rose was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School, and a long-time resident of Newark, DE, and Avondale, PA.
Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Stephen J. Shiner. Together they spent many years traveling the world during her husband’s service in the United States Navy and during retirement. After raising her family, Rose returned to work in accounting for the State of Delaware, Department of Health and Human Services.
Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who cherished family. She will always be remembered for her selfless demeanor and unending love, especially for her grandchildren of whom she was very proud. Rose’s many acts of kindness and generosity with family and various charities made a lasting impact on many and will be forever admired.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Rose was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Francis, and Joseph Korpics; and sisters, Mary Csaszar, Teresa Tolnai, Anna Korpics, Julie Zavecz, and Helen Vargo.
Rose will be dearly missed by daughters, Stephanie Glenn (Joseph), Rosemarie Short (David), Lorraine Shiner, and Bernadine Shiner; grandchildren, David Brustman, Jr. (Rachel), Jennifer Brustman, Natalie Campbell (Ryan), Joseph Glenn (Victoria), Robert Short, Allison Juhl (Otto); and great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Jordan, Lawson, Lily, Genevieve, Noelle, and Carter.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother, 8910 Gap Newport Pike, Avondale, PA, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
