Edward Peter Lanette, Sr.

September 18, 1957 - January 14, 2023

Edward Peter Lanette, Sr., age 65, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Born in Fort Lauderdale, FL on September 18, 1957, he was a son of the late John Andrew Lanette and Ava Rayburn Mattei. Edward worked as an inventory specialist at Hikma Pharmaceuticals, DART, and US Airways, as well as a TSA agent for Homeland Security.

A friend to the community, Edward served as a volunteer firefighter for Essington Fire Company for 14 years. He attended Love of Christ Church. He loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was a loyal friend known for his warm quick smile, wit, and humor. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing softball, spending time with family and friends, and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia sports teams.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, April (Tuttle) Lanette; children, Edward “Ed” Lanette, Jr. (Lindsay), Joe Barr, Eric Lanette (Sabrina), and Alyse “Aly” Lanette; grandchildren, Jordan, Jaden, Eddie, Rowan, and Miles; brothers, Jack Lanetti (Janet), Robert Lanetti (Diane), Gary Lanette (Jill), Daniel Mattei (Tammy), and Anthony Mattei (Karol); sisters, Andrea DeRosa (Jim), Donna Mattei D’Addario (Adam), Diane Richardson (Chris), and Anita Mattei; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A celebration of life will be held from 3 pm until 6 pm on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Cranston Heights Fire Company, Banquet Hall, 3306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Edward Lanette Memorial Fund, Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.
