Kathleen Hanlon “Kathy” Correia, age 65, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023.
Born in Adak, AK, on February 23, 1958, she was a daughter of Mark Z. Hanlon and the late Mary R. Hanlon. She attended Wissahickon High School and graduated from Temple University, with a BS in Nursing.
Kathy started her career as a neonatal nurse in Philadelphia, worked at the Children’s Seashore House and various hospitals in the tristate area, bringing compassionate care to her patients. She later transitioned into a nurse case manager for numerous companies.
She met the love of her life, John Correia, and they married in 2007 and made their home in Delaware. Together they enjoyed traveling, cruising to Alaska, New England and the Carribean, and trips of Yellowstone National Park and Las Vegas. She was an avid photographer, capturing beautiful moments of these treasured trips. She enjoyed spending time with her dogs, Scooter and Sophie.
She was sister to Mary Pat Karli (Dennis), Mark D. (Jane), Michael (Deborah), John (Kelly), Brian (Kerri), and Kevin (Elizabeth). She was greatly loved by her family, including Stephanie; nieces and nephews Katie, Kelsey, Ryan, Matthew (Christy), Sara, Natalie (James), Riley (Ashley), Morgan, Lauren, Briana, Grant, Kyra (Sam), Connor, Sean, Grace, Adam and Nora; great-nieces and nephews, Zane, Maddie and Carter; John’s children, Shelley Best (Roy) and Taryn Heath (Cutler) and their children, Alex, Jake, Gaby, Cali and Chloe; and John’s sister, Janice Montana (Stan). She is predeceased by her mother, Mary; brother John, and nephew Sean.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11. Interment will be held privately at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
