James Alvin Walker, Sr.

James Alvin Walker, Sr., age 77, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 28, 2024.

Born in Middletown, DE on November 12, 1946, he was the fourth child of the late Rose Anna (Jones) Walker and Lee Llewellyn Walker, Sr. James attended Louis L. Redding Comprehensive School and graduated from Middletown High School in 1966. His working years were with DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE as a lab technician and Chrysler Plant in Newark, DE on the assembly line.

For enjoyment, James would tinker on cars, ride his bike, plus watch TV: football (49ers), basketball (Warriors), Murder She Wrote, and Law & Order. His face would light up whenever his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren visited.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Luther Lee Walker, Jr. and Earl E. Walker, Sr.; sister, Virginia M. Beecher; grandson, Andre Walker; granddaughter, Uniqua Caldwell; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Beecher and Devon M. Todd. He is survived by his wife (divorced), Audrey L. Fields Walker; longtime friend, Catherine Caldwell; children, Beverly L. Walker, Elisha Caldwell, Carl Caldwell, and James A. Walker, Jr.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alberta V. Walker and Ardie L. Todd; sisters-in-law, Mae Berry and Leola Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 1 pm on Monday, November 11, 2024 in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE, in the Garden of Peace section.
