Sally B. Penland, age 84, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in West Virginia on March 18, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Shannon and Beulah (Brown) O’Donnell.  Sally dedicated her life to her family as a talented homemaker.

A true matriarch, Sally loved spending time with her family and adored her grandkids.  She also enjoyed cooking for her family.  Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend to many.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd L. Monk Penland; and sister, Lula Robinson.  She is survived by her children, Kenneth Penland (Patricia) of New Castle, Linda McNatt (John) of Newark, Ricky Penland (Diane) of Bear, Lloyd Ray Penland (Karen) of Bear and Robert Penland (Tonya) of New Castle; siblings, Lawrence O’Donnell, Bud O’Donnell and Lucy Hodges, all of West Virginia and Norma Zonar of Delaware; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.  A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the funeral home.  Interment will be follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sally’s name to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
