Marcie Lue Marshall

Marcie Lue Marshall, age 82, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 13, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Frances (O’Neill) Hopkinson.  Marcie proudly worked as an office manager for Dr. William Leshner for many years.  Her proudest work was raising four incredible daughters as a single mother in the 1970’s while living in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia, and growing a family that includes eight grandchildren and, so far, five great-grandchildren.

Marcie had a silly, mischievous laugh; the only brand name she seemed to wear was Disney; the number of blankets she crocheted by hand must easily count into the hundreds; and, at every stage of life she always greeted her family with a tight squeeze and an “I miss you.” No matter how short it had last been, it had always been too long since she last saw them. The memories made with Marcie will forever be in the hearts of her loving family.  She had a way of making everyone feel loved and celebrated.  Those blankets were made as a way for her to hug them warm no matter the distance or time that separated them. 

Marcie is survived by her daughters: Beverly Schol (John), Deborah Reis (Thomas), Marcie Snapp (Andrew) and Michele Feeney (James); sister, Francine McStravock; grandchildren, Mark, Rebecca, Kristin, Andrew, Samantha, Thomas, James and Connor; great grandchildren, Elise, Nora, Jakob, Selene and Alaina. Also niece, Patricia; nephews, Dennis and Francis and cousin Bruce Wagner.
