Alan H. “Al” Ringgold, age 83, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022.
Born in Middletown, DE, on August 17, 1939, he was a son of the late Edward Ringgold and Mary F. (Ash) Benson. Al proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a retired laborer with the Port of Wilmington.
Al was an avid reader and walker. He enjoyed traveling and watching cowboy movies.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his son, Devin Ringgold; twin brother, Robert Ash; sisters, Annette Blake, Charlotte Livingston, and Constance Saunders. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Claudette E. (Bush) Ringgold; son, Alan Ringgold (Crystal); siblings, Marjorie Fields, Janice Garnett (Felix), Patricia Groce (Josh), Merilyn Vincent, and James Benson (Patty); grandchildren, Tekeia, Devin, Qourtney, Shakira, Rapheal, and Amani; and 6 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 noon on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
