Alberta E. Maier Banning

Mrs. Alberta E. Maier Banning, age 79, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011, at her home.
Born in Wilmington on December 20, 1931, Alberta was the daughter of the late Harry Bush and Marion Stoddard Bush. She was a talented homemaker throughout her life and had also been employed in cafeteria work with the Colonial School District.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Walter H. Maier, and siblings, Harry Bush, Jr., John Bush, Clair Chrismon, Jean Baccino, and Doris Pierson. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Kenneth S. Banning, Sr.; children, Linda Jackalous, Walter V. Maier (Linda), Marion Brown (Eugene), Phillip Maier, and Jacqueline Seifred (Roderick); 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a great great grandchild, 5 stepchildren, 9 step grandchildren, and 11 step great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, where visitation will begin at 9 am. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave. and DuPont Rd., Wilmington, DE.
