Amy M. (Hanna) Hagopian

Born March 12, 1975

Amy M. (Hanna) Hagopian, age 42, of New Castle, DE, passed away suddenly at her home due to an ongoing medical condition on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

Amy was born in Panama City, FL on March 12, 1975, and was the daughter of N. Allan and Linda L. (Dougherty) Hanna. She was a member of the William Penn High School graduating class of 1993 where she was a varsity cheerleader, and later attended the University of Delaware and Wilmington University. Amy made her career in the trust office of Wilmington Trust where she was employed for over 12 years.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening and fishing while visiting the beach. Amy adored animals, and shared a special bond with her furbabies, Duchess and Champ. She was happiest in the company of her beloved family and will be very dearly missed.

Amy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John E. and Alberta Dougherty; paternal grandparents, Norman S. and Evelyn C. Hanna; and her aunt and godmother, Jill Grzybowski-Shumate. She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel W. Hagopian; parents, N. Allan and Linda L. Hanna of Harrington; stepchildren, Ariana Hagopian and Jagr Briar, both of Susquehanna, PA; brothers, Samuel P. Hanna of Wilmington, Craig O. Hanna of New Castle, and Eric A. Hanna (Cindy) of Sudlersville, MD; and many extended family members.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 11am until 12 Noon on Monday morning, August 28, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Amy’s memory may be sent to Faithful Friends, 12 Germany Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.

  • I worked with Amy at Wilmington Trust. We were in different departments but I often called her to get her help. She was so pleasant and cheerful. She was always willing to get me the information I needed. My heart goes out to her family. I lost my son two years ago at the age of 41. I know only too well the grief and loss of a child. Please contact me if you feel the need to talk. Amy was a beautiful young lady.
