Brent Christopher, 36, of New Castle, DE, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Brent was born in Wilmington on February 4, 1976, son of Kathleen and Ted Christopher of New Castle. A graduate of St. Elizabeth High School in 1994, Brent went on to graduate from the HVAC apprentice program of Pipefitters Local #74 in Glasgow. Brent was currently employed as a professional HVAC technician with Local #74 for Statewide Mechanical in South St. Georges.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion at Joseph B. Stahl Post #30 in Wilmington Manor and St. Gabriel’s Lodge in New Castle. Whether playing hockey, horseshoes, shuffleboard, or poker with his friends, Brent was a fierce competitor and respected by all he competed against. During summer months, Brent took his grilling skills very seriously and was happiest when his pool was full with his son, nieces, and neighborhood kids.
Everyone who knew him knows he was an amazing father and his son, Colby, was the center of his world.
In addition to his parents and son, Brent is survived by his brother, Ted Christopher II and wife Lisa of New Castle; nieces, Delaney and Morgan Faye Christopher; aunt, Judy Egner, and cousins, Kris Ann Payne (Donnie), Brandon and Ryan Payne, all of New Castle. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends, as well as his faithful Boxers, Rosco and Sampson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Team Sanfilippo Foundation, 80 Hash St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (www.teamsanfilippo.org). This charity raises money for research and brings awareness to a terminal genetic disease affecting the lives of young children and their families.
