Ann Rose Marusa, age 93, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 26, 1929, she was a daughter of the late James and Clorinda (Degliobizzi) Maida. Ann graduated from St. Paul’s Commercial in 1945. For many years she worked at her father’s store Maida Pharmacy at the corner of Lancaster and Harrison in Wilmington. Over the years, Ann also worked as a secretary for various insurance agencies and in Admitting at Memorial Hospital and Christiana Care.

Active in her community, Ann enjoyed volunteering at Leech and Keene elementary schools. In her leisure time, she liked to swim at the Fraim Boys & Girls Club and Senior Center. Ann cherished memories made while traveling to Hawaii, Italy, and Disney. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Zenon Joseph Marusa, Sr.; son, Zenon Joseph Marusa, Jr.; and siblings, Dominic Maida, and Clara Kopecki. She is survived by her loving daughter, Ann Marie Cushing (Ed Purzycki); daughter-in-law, Michelle Marusa; grandsons, Carey Cushing (Donna Cushing), and Zenon Marusa III (Amanda Marusa); and great-grandsons, Morgan, Jackson, and Lucas; as well as her sister, Mary Maida.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring nurses and staff at Bayada Hospice.           

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
