Anna West Lewis

Mrs. Anna West Lewis, age 64, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Pemberton, WV, on May 29, 1948, Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of DeLaWarr High School in New Castle. She made her career as an administrative assistant with the DuPont Company, where she retired after 20 years of service.
Active in her community, Mrs. Lewis was a longtime member of the New Castle Moose Lodge and enjoyed organizing class reunions for both DeLaWarr and Gunning Bedford alumni. She was also an avid league bowler for over 30 years. A gifted seamstress, she loved sewing and quilting and often handmade lovely gifts for family and friends. She was an avid traveler as well and had visited many interesting locations around the world on cruises with her husband.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John T. Lewis; son, Stephen James Duman (Kristy); granddaughter, Sierra Renee Duman; mother and stepfather, Mildred (Beckelhimer) and James Lenhoff; siblings, Cookie Just, Mike West (Jackie), Wanda Mason (Larry), Jack West (Betsy), and Sandy Tull (Lex); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John P.C. West, and a brother, Paul R. “Butch” West.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 21st, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
