Arlene C. Powell

Arlene C. Powell, age 89, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

Born in Boothwyn, PA, on March 4, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Ferris and Jennie (Derrickson) Chandler. Arlene enjoyed photography, bird watching, and was a gardening enthusiast. She loved spending her time boating, fishing and crabbing. She also delighted in camping, being at the beach and traveling throughout the United States. Most of all, Arlene loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Powell Sr.; daughter, Cheryl Pilot; and siblings, Ferris Chandler Jr., Robert Chandler, and Doris Beals. She is survived by her children, Claudia Pilot Dempsey (Ernest), Christopher Patterson, Darrell Patterson, and step-son, Paul Powell Jr. (Amy); grandchildren, Heather Pasquariello (Daniel), Darrel Patterson Jr., Wesley Patterson, and Liliana Powell; great grandchildren, Justin D’Angelo and Matthew McVey; sister, Jeraldine Weldon (Paul); sister-in-law, Dorothy Chandler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Interment will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, 1000 West Ridge Road, Linwood, PA. Face masks will be required for all in attendance.
